According to the new EU legislation, since 1 July 2018 the use of amalgam for dental treatments to children under the age of 15, and pregnant or breastfeeding women is prohibited. This is seen as the first step towards a total ban which will probably take place around 2030.
Our practice is completely amalgam-free. All fillings are made with safe, tooth-colored material for both health and aesthetic reasons. It is strongly recommended to replace leaking and/or broken amalgam fillings. However, amalgam fillings that are in good condition do not pose health risks, therefore replacing them is a purely aesthetic issue.
